In health today we learnt about the effects of drugs and alcohol, and how to stay safe when using them.

Drugs are something people would recommend to stay away from however many try to experiment with different types and classes of drugs and for some it ends badly, If you are planning to take any kind of drug it is a good idea to make sure you no what you are taking and that the product doesn't have any kind of harsh chemicals such as rat poising that could end you up in hospital or even kill you. when taking drugs make sure you are in a safe environment and with people you trust, make sure your source of drug is safe to take and that you have a backup plan if things go badly.

Make sure you are aware of what the drug will do to you so you don't panic when the high kicks in and make sure to remember that whatever goes up must come down and sometimes the downfall of drugs can be quite overwhelming and stressful.

If you ever feel pressured to take any kind of drug then they are probably not the right kind of people to be hanging around with, so make sure you are with people you trust and in a safe environment, and if anything goes badly or you are worried about someone who was taken drugs be sure to call 111

Overall if you are ever planning to take any kind of drug try to follow these steps and always have a backup plan in place...

Stay safe

Hopefully this text benefits young people or anyone who is planning on taking drugs. For example people who might be experimenting or going to parties.

Yellow Brick Road

Witi ihimaera is from New Zealand he is also the first Māori writer to publish both a book of short stories and a novel, his fiction develops out of his perspective as he creates imaginative new realities for his readers.

His novel ‘The Whale Rider”, has become an international successful feature film, in 2017 Witi Ihimaera was honoured for his fiction and given the 2017 prime minister award for literacy achievement.

For me “yellow brick road” sounds like something that would be in the movie “wizard of oz”.

The family in the story have decided to move to Wellington where there are better and more opportunities for their family.

Waituhi is a small town where their family originally lived, In the story the family moves to Wellington where it is a big city with more job and school opportunities.

The dad told the uncle that they were moving to Wellington for a good life and a new start.

I think that the author made these comparisons to show that the yellow brick road is a path to success and opportunity.
